Welcome to The Pool Cottage Smallholding.
The site is about who we are and what we do on our smallholding at Pool Cottage in North Shropshire. Not only are we a smallholding with various animals, but we also create stunning jewellery, wood and metal work. In addition, we also have our own brewery!
We are continually developing the smallholding and diversifying in an environmentally responsible manner, while remaining pragmatic. More details about our aims can be found on the about us page, and please feel free to look around. Any feedback or genuine enquiries about our smallholding, "Artisan Pixies" or "The Dizzy Pig" are most welcome.
The Artisan Pixies moved into the Pool Cottage Smallholding just as we retired. The have helped us diversify into Jewellery making, blacksmithing and wood-turning. Ruth now creates a range of stunning silver jewellery, ranging from elegant necklaces and bangles through to beautiful stone set rings.
Andy is producing hand forged ironmongery including; hooks, fire pokers and Celtic iron jewellery. On the lathe he turns locally sourced wood into a plethora of useful objects, such as; bowls, pens, bottle openers and mills.

The Dizzy Pig was created in 2016, after losing the roof off our garage in a storm. As well as creating our very own pub, we invested in a brewing system for producing our own craft beer. Every year we also pick, crush, press and ferment enough cider to last the year. The apples coming from our orchard at Pool Cottage.
