Andy was appointed head pixie for woodturning design and creation upon his retirement in late 2018. All the pixies chipped in to buy a lathe along with the plethora of tools and accessories. Many hours of trial and error later, he can now turn a whole range of decorative and practical items. Being completely self taught, he wouldn't say he's an expert, but is happy designing and then creating things he likes, and hopes others will too.

The vast majority of the wood used is sourced from Pool Cottage. Much of the beech and oak comes from the trees surrounding the duck pond. The apple, pear, greengage and apricot all comes from our orchard.

The Artisan Pixies don't like waste, so once the days turning is complete, the shavings are collected, labelled and stored. They are then used in the various smokers at Pool Cottage to produce some awesome low and slow meat dishes. Favourites include; Pool Cottage produced short pig ribs smoked over apricot wood and beef brisket cooked or 12 to 14 hours over beech.
